The world keeps turning…

 Hi there, wonderful supporters!

We’re sitting on what the Germans call "hot coals" right now—waiting for word from the relative of our late landlord, who seems to hold the keys to our future home. Translation: no news on the sale price or our potential right of first refusal yet.

James and I recently made a trip to Santa Rosa for a check-in with our CPAP doctor. The good news? We get to keep the CPAP machine even if James isn’t using it at the moment. After a wild 30-day insurance trial where we both needed a serious breather (pun intended), the doc encouraged us to ease back into regular use—habit is where it’s at! And he confirmed that James’s sleep apnea is all about his sleeping position, not anything neurological. We’re relieved knowing that we can address the physical aspect—a much more manageable challenge than a neurological one.

Every night, I lie awake, plotting a brighter, more stable future, and listen to James’s smooth, almost mesmerizing breathing. One of my cheeky theories: the CPAP may have “tortured” him so thoroughly that, when he finally ditched it, he outperformed the sleep study by snoozing like a baby (even if babies aren’t exactly known for their sleep patterns)! At least for now.

But, another twist popped up: James is now dealing with some major knee and lower back pain. In a video visit with our brilliant UCSF doctor, we mentioned that Lewy’s been acting up in the form of these aches. She suggested a new medication, which we’re starting tonight. Fingers crossed it does the trick!

The quest for a new bicycle continues. I’m even toying with the idea of convincing James to try out an electric tandem—maybe even a recumbent e-tandem! His ever-changing body and the challenge of redefining his image as one of the fastest cyclists (trikes just don’t have the same cool factor, apparently) have left us stalling quite a bit. And let’s not even mention the price range differences between a 2-wheeler recumbent bike, e-bike, a tricycle recumbent e-bike and a recumbent tandem e-bike.

Time isn’t exactly on our side, but that won’t stop us from doubling down on our determination to keep moving forward—one laugh, one step, one ride at a time. Even as our living situation keeps us on our toes, your encouragement,  generous donations and uplifting messages infuse us with the strength and hope we need to push past every unexpected twist.

Thank you for being our rock and sharing this wild, unpredictable adventure with us. The world keeps turning, and with you by our side, we're spinning right along—with optimism and ready for whatever comes next!

With heartfelt thanks and deepest gratitude.
James and Margit

“Rivers do not drink their own water; trees do not eat their own fruit; the sun does not shine on itself and flowers do not spread their fragrance for themselves. Living for others is a rule of nature. We are all born to help each other. No matter how difficult it is...Life is good when you are happy; but much better when others are happy because of you.” Pope Francis
