Springtime Gratitude & Gearing Up Again
Dear friends,
I hope this note finds you well and basking in the beauty of spring. As for me, I’m choosing to focus on the sunshine rather than the uncertainty still looming over our living situation. No news on that front yet—but instead of letting the weight of the unknown get me down, I’ve decided to joyfully ignore that cloud for now and soak in the light where I can find it.
And light I did find—in Austin, where I just spent ten magical days with our granddaughter and her parents. Being led through the day by a curious, joyful toddler is my kind of vacation—body and soul. But also naptime, when she curls up on my chest and sleeps for two or three hours. Everything quiets. Her tiny breath, the warmth of her body… it offers a kind of peace and clarity that no meditation could ever replicate. In those moments, I’m not chasing thoughts or worries—just breathing with her, in the now.
And as if that wasn’t enough: nightly gourmet meals, a professional massage paid by my daughter, and even yoga classes. It felt like a vacation on another planet—or maybe in a whole other lifetime.
Back home, James was holding down the fort with our dear friend Coby. Those two have their own kind of brotherhood. The carefully planned setup before I left derailed quickly (James couldn’t unlock his e-bike on Day 2 and couldn’t ride it the whole time I was gone!), but everyone survived. I did get some mental knots about it, but the letting go came easier—see above.
Recharged and buttered up, I returned to spring weather with a spring in my step. The last two days felt like a dream. James and his bike were running smoothly again. I ran errands, we met for lunch like in the old days, caught up with friends, shared laughter—it felt easy, light, right.
On Easter Sunday, no egg hunts, but we did find Coby riding with us to the Point Reyes bakery where he treated us to some tasty morsels. We laughed, we chirped, we glided through the day like swallows in the wind.
On the way home, we traded bikes mid-ride: Coby on James’s, me on Coby’s Stromer (that motor under my seat gave me wings), and Coby on my non-electric Merlin. I even did a few victory laps up Olema Hill to cheer on my crew. We all reunited, sun on our backs, and for a whole weekend, I stayed in that dreamlike lala land.
To be on the road again with James—wind, wheels, friends, and springtime—feels like life is showing us a bit of mercy.
We're now planning to purchase a second Bosch battery for James’ bike to expand our range. It’s another expense, but one we’re excited for—it opens up possibilities, like finally riding up Mt. Tamalpais together!
This e-bike has truly changed our world. And it’s all thanks to you. Your generosity, support, and love have made our world brighter and bigger than we could’ve imagined.
With all my heart,
Margit (and James too)
